Ishigaki World Cup 2008

Competing in Japan has been one of my favourite countries to race in and Ishigaki in particular is one I loved the most. It was typically always very humid, the Japanese people were so welcoming and the water in the little harbour was so crystal clear that you had to keep focus and not get caught up looking at beautiful ocean floor below.

Race mornings you always find the locals out sweeping the streets with their homemade brooms to be sure everyone had the safest race and would continue to cheer throughout the day with their neighbours and plenty of instruments.

The night usually finished on to some obscure and quirky Karaoke Bars after a Japanese feast, but most of all riding around the Island was so tropical… a mini Japanese Hawaii – maybe that’s why I liked it so much:)
